The commission for the custom game table was a big project, but we've had some smaller custom jobs recently as well. One of our favorite things about custom work is that it allows us to solve problems and needs in the lives of our clients! Over the winter we did a few indoor craft shows and talked with a local artist who was selling his work. The problem was that his canvases were bigger than his stands and so the stands were pushing into the canvas and leaving marks. We offered to make a test extender and if he liked it, we could make more for the rest of his stands. It was a simple item to make, and it is removable so if he ever has smaller pieces, he can remove the extender. This was all welding, so Joe was the lead on this project. This piece was born from an unusual request. The client gave us a baggy full of bullet casings that he had personally shot and asked us to make him something out of them. We had full creative reign on what to make but we also figured he probably wanted to still be able to tell that they were casings.
Joe took the lead on this one as well, even though it was woodworking. One of the great things about this being a family business is that we can help each other out. Mark was in the middle of some other large projects so Joe handled this one. We stained it and it is sealed with polyurethane. There are two display options - the keyhole slot for hanging or a small dowel for tabletop display.
