June is when Dan and the boys started working on the barn projects. Back in the winter, Mark started this work with the removal of the milking stalls. After Dan retired, there was some organizing that needed to happen before the work on the second floor and woodshop could begin but things are finally gearing up! It worked out that the floor project fell on the hottest week we've had so far this year. So the guys got up at 6 am each day and worked until about 11 am. They did this M, T, W, & F and got the whole thing done in that one week! The boys did put in an afternoon of work one of the days, which helped tremendously. (Please excuse the poor quality phone photos.) As soon as the floor was done, construction began on the woodshop. The far end (see the last photo) is where that room is being installed. It will mean more room for Mark to work and the ability to have a dedicated finishing space. (He's also hoping it means random stuff won't get shoved into his workspace anymore :) There is still a lot to do but a lot of progress has been made at the same time!
The other big news is.... WE GOT DOGS! Joe has been wanting a dog for basically his whole life. It's been a given that we'd get some at some point to protect animals and now they're here! Meet Glacier & Canyon. They are Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs. There's actually an interesting story of how we got them, but that is for another day.
