Our Coin Rings get a lot of interest at craft shows and when we wear them we get a lot of comments. Today you get a behind-the-scenes look at the process to turn a coin into a unique piece of jewelry! The first step is to decide which kind of ring is being made and which way to "turn" the coin. These decisions determine what words are on the outside of the ring. After drilling a hole in the middle, the coin is heated to soften the metal, a process called "annealing". This will be done several times throughout the process. Then the ring is fitted on a mandrel and, using a plastic mallet, it is hammered down. The last step in this stage is to clean up the shape and press it to its final size. The final step is polishing with steel wool.
Our rings come in a wide range of sizes, full and half. We can even make a ring out of a special coin of yours if you mail it to us.
